Kendari (Antaranews Sultra) - The Kendari city government, Southeast Sulawesi Province, has organized a local food festival along the road north of the Kendari mayor`s office on Monday by serving satay made from pokea, a type of shell species.
Head of the Kendari Food Office Nismawati stated that the activity is part of the commemoration of the 187th anniversary of Kendari City.
"The local food delicacy `pokea satay` is sold in stalls, spread across 240 meters, with a total of some 67 thousand skewers," she noted.
According to Nismawati, some one thousand skewers had been prepared for each district from 11 sub-district offices.
"The main objective of organizing this activity is to foster a sense of love for local culinary delicacies and to enliven the anniversary celebrations of Kendari City," she stated.
This activity has been held for two consecutive years, with a different local food menu each year.
"Hopefully, several people will visit this area due to our efforts to introduce the local cuisines," she conveyed.
Most visitors enjoy the local food items after attending the Great Mass Prayers near the local food festival.
