Kendari, Antara Sultra - The east Indonesian province of Southeast Sulawesi has three leading sectors, with huge potential for the development of agro-industries: agriculture, plantation, and fisheries.
"With assistance of the Southeast Sulawesi provincial government, we have segregated the development of agro-industries into a few clusters of economic development," Chairman of the Provincial Legislative Assembly (DPRD) Abdul Rahman Saleh Sultra remarked at the annual meeting of the financial services industry along with the Financial Services Authority, which concluded here on Wednesday.
According to the DPRD chairman, Kolaka and North Kolaka have been selected for the development of the agro-industrial cluster for the plantation sector, while the agro-industrial cluster for the fisheries sector is being developed in the islands of Wakatobi and Buton as well as the surrounding region.
"Agro-industrial clusters for the agricultural sector are being developed in the districts of Konawe and South Konawe," he noted.
In addition to the three clusters, he remarked that the Southeast Sulawesi provincial government will set up other economic development clusters to promote cattle breeding in the districts of Muna and Bombana.
"We are optimistic that the managers of the financial and industrial services will give serious attention to the business world to develop the leading sectors in the province," he added.
