Kolaka (Antaranews Sultra) - The police in Wundulako sector, Kolaka District, Southeast Sulawesi Province, have created a new innovation by converting plastic waste into fuel oil, or gasoline, and diesel fuel.
Police Brigadier One Agus Sartono stated that the innovative discovery of recycling plastic waste was made since 2016 and then developed currently using existing equipment.
"The idea to create this invention emerged when piles of plastic waste lay in front of the house and I decided to recycle the garbage," he noted while participating in the multipurpose technology innovation contest held by Kolaka District.
Sartono explained that the plastic waste burning machine was designed using only some cooking utensils, such as pots, as well as gas cylinders and pipes that were no longer in use.
In addition, he browsed online to develop the waste incineration engine that can produce fuel oil or gasoline and diesel.
"Thank God, at the start of this year, I can distill and distinguish between petrol and diesel fuel and conduct some tests on the two-wheeled engine and wood cutter machine and grass. The result was satisfying," he explained.
Nevertheless, fuel oil has yet to be widely sold to the public owing to limited materials and plastic waste recycling machinery, which has been far from perfect.
He also expressed hope that with this technological innovation competition, the local government would be able to give greater attention to help and develop the plastic waste recycling machine to make it more perfect.
