Wanggudu (Antaranews Sultra) - The Government of North Konawe District has prepared the location for the building and development of industrial area at a large scale.
Head of North Konawe District, Ruksamin, said here on Tuesday that the location for nickel industry area has been prepared at Landawe Sub-district, Lengkikima, and Wiwirano.
"The land for industrial estate is still available, but it must pay attention to the prevailing laws and regulations, especially related to forestry and environmental issues," he stated.
North Konawe industrial area has been eyed by Korean investors to set up a nickel purification factory, at an investment of Rp50 trillion.
"The investment in North Konawe is not only a discourse but also a field activity. Hopefully, it will be finished in three years," he remarked.
Head of North Konawe Trade and Industry Office, Muhardi Mustafa, noted that the nickel purification industry will require thousands of local workers.
"The presence of the factory also has an impact on vegetable farmers, rice farmers, and other food sectors," he stated.
Therefore, he expected small and medium enterprises to improve their skills so that they could be more competitive.
