Kendari, SE Sulawesi, Jan 19 (Antara News) - La Witiri, a member of the Buton Regional Legislative Assembly (DPRD) in Southeast Sulawesi, expressed support to the initiative of transforming Pulau Ular (Snake Island) into a marine tourism destination.
"We fully support the efforts taken by the Buton district government to transform Snake Island into a marine tourism destination due to its exceptional underwater beauty," Witiri remarked in Kendari on Tuesday.
He pointed out that Snake Island, locally known as the Liwutongkidi Island, is a small uninhabited island in Buton district but has a beautiful white sandy beach, visible from afar, which reflects a combination of four colors: white, light blue, blue, and green.
"The white color bounces off the white sand along the beach, and the blue light emanates from the boundaries of the deep and shallow seawater along the beach," he noted.
He said the blue color radiates from the deep ocean water, and the green color bounces off the leaves of the palm and pine trees that line the coast.
"The combination of the four colors radiating from Snake Island is really interesting and exotic," he affirmed.
In addition to the natural panorama of the coast, the underwater world of Snake Island is also appealing, with various types of coral reefs, species of fish, and other marine biota.
