Kendari, Nov 26 (Antara News) - Bank Indonesia (BI) said Southeast Sulawesi still recorded a strong 6.94 percent economic growth in the third quarter of this year, but not as strong as in the second quarter when the economy grew 7.22 percent.
The growth rate was much higher than the country`s economic growth of only 4.7 percent in the same period, the representative of the central bank in the province , said.
Head of the representative office of the central bank in Kendari Harisuddin attributed the slow down in the third quarter to falling household consumption as a result of a decline in the income of the people.
The income of farmers in the region had declined on shrinking export amid the protracted global crisis, Harisuddin said here on Wednesday.
Harisuddin also noted a decline in inflation in the province, and an improvement in banking performance as indicated by growing third party fund held by banks, increase in credit disbursement, and lower credit risks.
"In the third quarter of 2015, third party funds held by banks in the province grew 19.6 percent, credit disbursements were 12.5 percent larger and non performing loan was 2.95 percent," he said.
