
Military, Police Chiefs Visit Southeast Sulawesi

Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi (Antara News) - Commander of the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) General Moeldoko and National Police Chief General Sutarman visited Southeast Sulawesi to evaluate the readiness of their personnel ahead of the presidential election on July 9.
General Moeldoko and General Sutarman after arriving for a transit from Maluku and before leaving for Jakarta held a meeting at the local Haluoleo Airport for more than two hours with the regional TNI and police personnel and their wives along with the civil servants working in the two institutions.
On arrival, they were welcomed by the Wirabuana VII Military Command Chief Major General Bahtiar, Southeast Sulawesi Governor Nur Alam, Regional Police Command Chief Brigadier General Arkian Lubis, and 143/HO Resort Military Command Chief Colonel Andi Sumangerukka.
On the occasion, General Moeldoko called on the TNI and police personnel to continue cooperating in order to overcome various problems that may emerge in the region.
"I hope the TNI and police will remain united and solid as they will be able to prevent threats from certain groups keen on harming the country`s integrity," Moeldoko emphasized.
Regarding the upcoming presidential election, he again called on the TNI and police members to remain neutral and avoid being trapped in practical politics.
"Any TNI or police member not found neutral in the election, I as the TNI commander, will issue a strict sanction against him," he stressed.
