Kendari, SE Sulawesi, Antara Sultra - An earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter Scale, jolted Wakatobi District in Southeast Sulawesi Province, on Friday at 8:12 a.m. local time.
The quake`s epicenter was located at 5.34 degree southern latitude and 123.52 degree eastern longitude, around 3 km southwest of Wanci, Wakatobi, and at a depth of 30 km, Rosa Amelia, head of the Kendari Geophysics office, said here, Friday.
The tremor was felt rather strongly by inhabitants of Wanci and Kaledupa sub-district, at II-III MMI (Modified Mercalli Intensity).
The earthquake did not have potential to trigger a tsunami.
