Kendari, SE Sulawesi, July 19 (Antara)- The government has distributed relief aid to victims of floods hitting 17 villages in North Konawe District, Southeast Sulawesi Province.
"The relief aid comprising among other things instant food, sarongs and blankets have been distributed. The North Konawe District disaster mitigation office (BPBD) keeps evaluating the needs of the local flood victims," Yauri of the local BPBD said here, Tuesday.
The Kendari Search and Rescue office (Basarnas) has been helping evacuate local inhabitants affected by flooding.
"Since the flooding submerging 17 villages and 700 homes, Basarnas, BPBD, social affairs officers, police and military personnel are ready to help the inhabitants," Amiruddin, head of the Kendari SAR office, said.
Public kitchens have been set up for the flood victims.
