Kendari,S.E. Sulawesi, Dec 19 (Antaranews Sultra) - Bank Indonesi representative in Southeast Sulawesi predicted that the economy of the province would grow stronger in 2019.

"Our prediction is that the economy of Southeast Sulawesi would grow 7.1-7.2 percent in 2019 higher than a growth of 6.8 percent predicted this year," head of the representative of the Central Bank Minot Purwahono said here on Wednesday.

Minot said his prediction is based on an increase in the number of jobs, which have been created in non-mining sectors including in agricultural, manufacturing, construction and whole sales sector.

In addition, there is an increase in the household consumption, government consumption and in investment to help boost the economic expansion in 2019, he said.

Meanwhile, inflation in 2019 could be put under control at around 3.3 percent, he added.

"Coordination with the Team for the Regional Inflation Control (TPID) both at the provincial, and district levels has to be increased that any problem in production and distribution could be solved immediately, " he said

Earlier Minot Purwahono said at an annual meeting of representative of Bank Indonesia 2018, said Southeast Sulawesi had many workers needed in the mining sector. The increase in the number of jobs would reduce unemployment and would help boost economic growth.

Meanwhile chairman of the Regional Legislative Assembly Abdurrahman Saleh said he appreciated the performance of Bank Indonesia in contributing to the regional economic development.

"In economic growth we are above the national average , but poverty is still high in this province . The poverty ration is still more than 11 percent. We need to address this problem more seriously," he said.

The legislator from the PAN party said Southeast Sulawsi has potential natural resources but it would not help if it could not be properly exploited.
