Lasusua, Southeast Sulawesi, Aug 17 (Antara) - The Kolaka Utara district administration said it hopes to revitalize 43,000 hectares of cacao plantations.

Deputy Regent of Kolaka Utara, Abbas, said here on Friday, the Central Government will help in the revitalization of 2,000 hectares of the target of 43,000 hectares.

"We have been given an assistance from the Central Government for the revitalization of 2,000 hectares of the plantations," Abbas said .

The assistance is an indication of the Central Government`s attention and concern for the cacao farmers in Kolaka Utara, he said.

"Kolaka Utara is the only area in the Indonesia having a big program to revitalize cacao plantations.000 The program has drawn the attention of the Central Government," he added.

He said the people of Kolaka Utara were thankful for the attention shown by the Central Government.

Cacao is one of the country`s major export commodities . Indonesia is the third largest cacao producer in the world after the Ivory Coast and Ghana in Africa.
