Kendari (Antaranews Sultra) - Floods, triggered by heavy downpour, submerged parts of the Trans Sulawesi Highway in Wiwirano Sub-district, North Konawe District, Southeast Sulawesi Province.
Flooding cut off access to the highway section connecting North Konawe in Southeast Sulawesi and Morowali in Central Sulawesi, North Konawe District Head Ruksamin stated in Wanggudu on Tuesday.
Flooding also inundated several houses in the villages of Landawe, Tamba Kua, and Polora Indah in Wiwirano, forcing flood victims to evacuate to higher ground.
The local administration of North Konawe has deployed officers to facilitate the evacuation process with assistance of the police and military personnel.
