Kendari, Oct 3 (Antaranews Sultra) - The Meteorology, Climatologynd Geophysics Agency (BMKG) released the award on Wednesday (3/10), a 3.8 magnitude tectonic earthquake shook the Sawa region, North Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi (Southeast Sulawesi).

Head of Kendari Geophysics Station Rosa Amelia in Kendari said the results of the BMKG analysis showed that the earthquake occurred at 5:12 a.m.

"The tectonic earthquake with the strength M = 3.8 with the epicenter at coordinates 3.44 LS - 122.86 BT around 63.6 Km Northeast Kendari (81 km Northeast Wanggudu), Southeast Sulawesi, at a depth of 11 Km," he said.

It was said, based on community reports showed that the impact of the earthquake in the form of shock was felt by the Sawa community in Sawa Sub-district, Konawe Utara-Southeast Sulawesi District on the intensity scale II of the BMKG GIS.

"Until the time this report was made there was no information about the damage caused by the earthquake," he said.

According to him, related to earthquakes in the Northeast region of Kendari (81 km Northeast Wanggudu), until this report was prepared at 08.00 WITA, there was no follow-up earthquake activity.

"People are encouraged to remain calm and carry out activities as usual because the earthquake did not have the potential to cause a tsunami," he said.

Judging from its depth, he said, this earthquake is a shallow earthquake due to the activities of Manui Faults in the vicinity of Manui - Central Sulawesi. (T.SYS/B/E002/B/E002)
