Kendari (Antaranews Sultra) - North Konawe District Government has cooperated with Indonesian Military (TNI), through United Military Build Village (TMMD), to build 50 home stay units in Labengki Island tourist site, Lasolo Islands sub-district.

Head of North Konawe, Ruksamin, said here on Tuesday that the selection of TMMD implementation sites on Labengki Island is to motivate the local community and increase the development of facilities.

"TNI is well known as the agency that has high work ethics. I believe local people will be motivated to develop better facilities," he stated.

TMMD is reinforced by 150 personnel to build basic village road infrastructure and to improve worship places, school buildings, and community health centers.

The famous tourist destination of Labengki Island, with stunning underwater panoramas, can be reached from Kendari City by sea or overland transportation for about five hours.

He invited Labengki people to be creative in developing the tourism, which can attract both local and foreign visitors to visit the island.

"Hopefully, the local people will see this opportunity to develop hand-made souvenir industries, especially for those who have talents in carving, weaving, webbing, and cooking typical cuisine of North Konawe. It will cause impact to the welfare of the local community," he pointed out.
