Kendari, Antara Sultra - The regent of Wakatobi, Southeast Sulawesi, has given three ex-corruption convicts important positions at the district administration.

The three - Hajifu, Harbiadi and Laode Abdul Asis - were ex-convicts having served jail terms for corruption, activist of anti corruption organization Rusli Zainal said here on Saturday.

"It is almost unbelievable that Regent Aruhawi Ruda recruited and installed ex-convicts," Rusli said.

He said Hajifu had been named as new head of Personnel Division (BKD), La Ode Abdul Asis was given the post as expert staff at the district administration secretariat and Harbiadi as new head of Public Welfare Division at the district administration secretariat.

"Hajifu was convicted and punished with four year jail term for involvement in corruption scandal when he was head of the district Marine and Fisheries office in 2010," he said here on Saturday .

La Ode Abdul Asis was found to be involved in a corruption case when he was the secretary of the district legislative assembly in 2008.

"La Ode Abdul Asis was jailed for case of fictitious official travels of the members of the legislative body that also involved the chairman of the legislative body Daryono Moane," Rusli said.

Head of the Protocol, Public Communications, and Cooperation Division of the Wakatobi administration secretariat La Ode Ifi confirmed the installation of the three ex-convicts.

"That was right, Hajifu was installed as BKD chief, , La Ode Abdul Asis as expert staff and Harbiadi, head of the public welfare division at the secretariat of the Wakatobi district administration," he said.
