Kendari, SE. Sulawesi, June 30 (Antara) - The sea toll development program by the government will doubly increase the revenue of Wakatobi District, Southeast Sulawesi Province.

"Currently, Wakatobi`s revenue from the tourism sector is around Rp10 billion, or 40 percent of the district`s total revenue," Head of the Wakatobi Administration Hugua said here Tuesday.

The sea toll program, he said, is predicted to increase Wakatobi`s revenue up to Rp20 billion from the tourism sector as the flow of cargo and services will increase as well.

"The transportation flow of cargo and services can increase as Wakatobi is one of the stopover points for cargo and passenger ships departing from Papua to Aceh or vice versa," Hugua said.

The Wakatobi administration continues to improve the supporting infrastructure for the sea toll construction, mainly docks, airports and special dock for cruise ships.

By doing so, he said, the cargo and passenger ships that moving from Papua to Aceh or otherwise, will not find it difficult to stop in Wakatobi.

"The cargo and passenger ships stop in Wakatobi certainly will impact people`s welfare Wakatobi," Hugua said.

Wakatobi has been well-known for its scenery underwater tourist sites.

One of them is Wakatobi Marine National Park, which is since 2005 is listed as a tentative World Heritage Site.
