Kendari, SE Sulawesi, Nov 25 (Antara)- Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani is expected to officially launch the Wakatobi Wonderful Festival and Expo (Wakatobi Wave) on November 26, 2015, in Wangiwangi, Wakatobi District, Southeast Sulawesi Province.
"On Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. local time, Coordinating Minister Puan Maharani is scheduled to arrive in Wangiwangi," Wakatobi District Head Hugua stated here on Wednesday.
The Wakatobi Wave will be organized to celebrate the 12th anniversary of Wakatobi District and will be the biggest festival ever held in Wakatobi, he noted.
A cultural parade, involving some 10 thousand participants and a colossal dance by one thousand dancers, will be organized to enliven the festival.
The participants will come from Southeast Sulawesi province`s four major islands: Wakatobi, WangiWangi, Kaledupa, Tomia, and Binongko.
The colossal traditional dance is called "The Charm of Wakatobi as the Center of the World Biosphere Reserve."
The festival is also called the Wakatobi coastal community cultural festival.
Various traditional art and cultural performances, including a ritual to Islamize a young girl, will be organized to highlight the event.
Several foreign tourists from Australia and Europe, among other countries, are also expected to visit Southeast Sulawesi Province during the Wakatobi Wave.
