Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, March 10 (Antara) - The government of Southeast Sulawesi Province has explored cooperation in education with the government of Western Australia.
Southeast Sulawesi Culture and Education office chief Damsid said here on Sunday that the form of cooperation was through scholarship for students from the province to study in Perth, Western Australia.
"Through the cooperation, the scholarship will either come from the directorate general of higher education or the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) for our students to study at universities in Perth," Damsid said.
According to him, the cooperation was explored when Southeast Sulawesi Governor Nur Alam and some officials of the local culture and education office visited Perth from February 23-28, 2013.
He expressed hope that through the cooperation there would also be students and teachers exchange program to improve human resources development in the province.
"The government of Western Australia also needs teachers from Southeast Sulawesi to teach Indonesian language at some schools in Perth," he said.
In addition, he noted that the headmasters from the province would also be facilitated to take apprentice program at Western Australian schools to study school management, education system, and curriculum.
